The biggest capital winners on the final day of the EFL season were undoubtedly Orient and Bromley, as Millwall missed out on automatic promotion, while QPR, Charlton and Watford all lost.

The O's started the day in danger at the foot of League One - a two point advantage over Exeter City looking fragile in the event of a win for City down at St James' Park against Bradford City.

Even a draw would not have been enough had Exeter won, but in the event, they lost 2-1 to the play-off chasing Bantams, so their result was academic.

In the event, they scraped a 2-2 draw with Burton Albion, having twice surrendered a lead. Will Forrester gave them an early lead, which was cancelled before the break and Dom Ballard's goal at the start of the second half was also quickly annulled by a Burton equaliser.

AFC Wimbledon will be grateful for the four point lead they had over Exeter at kick-off, which meant their 4-0 home defeat to Huddersfield did not matter. Not that they will have enjoyed such an end of season flop.

Bromley had led the League Two table for much of the season, only to surrender it to MK Dons last week after losing 2-0 at Salford, but all's well that ends well for Andy Woodman's heroes.

Already assured of promotion, they beat Walsall 3-1 to land the League One title. The win also meant they remained unbeaten at home all season - the only team among the 92 league clubs to be able to say that.

It was enough to pinch top spot because the Dons were held to a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood. Scorers for the Ravens in their joyful last outing were Ben Thompson, Mitch Pinnock and Omar Sowunmi. It's party time at Hayes Lane tonight.

Barnet have also had a highly creditable return to league football and won their final game - 2-1 at Harrogate, relegating the Yorkshire outfit in the process. They just miss out of the play-offs, finishing two points and one place below Grimsby Town, who pipped them to the post for seventh place.

Callum Stead put the Bees ahead and sub Phil Chinedu hit a late winner after Harrogate had levelled it with a first-half penalty.

In the Championship, Millwall beat relegated Oxford 2-0 but Ipswich pipped them to automatic promotion and they will have to go up the hard way via the play-offs.

QPR, unable to do the South Londoners a favour, were brushed aside 3-0 by Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Charlton looked on course for a point at Swansea City when Myles Leaburn bagged an equaliser 10 minutes from time , but late goals from Adam Idah and Leo Walta - from a free-kick - gave the Welshmen the points. The Addicks finish 19th in the 24-team table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

It was not a great finish from Watford - who were crushed 4-0 by champions Coventry City at Vicarage Road. They end the season in 16th place on 57 points - one point and one place below QPR.
