Just when they seemed dead and buried, West Ham have suddenly sprung to life.
A couple of weeks ago they lost at home to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest to plunge the club into despond. Now, a week on from a last-gasp win at Spurs they claimed a 3-1 win against Sunderland to breathe more life into their hopes of survival.
A first half blitz brought goals from Crysencio Summerville, Jarrod Bowen (from the penalty spot) and Mateus Fernandes and the Wearsiders could only respond with a second half goal from Brian Brobbey.
It closed the gap on Forest to two points ahead of the Midlanders' visit to Brentford.
Two other London clubs enjoyed superb days on home soil. Millwall crushed local rivals Charlton Ahtletic 4-0 to remain fifth in the Championship table - six points clear of the seventh-placed team in the battle to finish in the top six.
They were indebted to an own goal from Addicks defender Kayne Ramsey to get the ball rolling after just seven minutes and doubled the lead 10 minutes from time through Caleb Taylor's header before adding gloss with two goals in stoppage time from Luke Cundle and Aidomo Emakhu.
It was the Lions' third home win in a row.
Vying for the title of team of the day in the capital are Bromley, who go from strength to strength in League Two as they eye a first ever promotion to League One.
They recovered from conceding the first goal to Ian Holloway's promotion rivals Swindon Town to earn a thrilling 2-1 win. Nicke Kabamba was the hero, heading home an 89th minute winner after Ashley Charles had vollyed in an equaliser at the start of the second half.
They have the EFL's only unbeaten home record after 13 games at Hayes Lane and remain six points clear of second-placed Salford. It's now eight wins in an unbeaten run of nine games. They are at home to Crewe on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, there was heartache for QPR as two injury time goals from visitors Wrexham gave the Welshmen a 3-2 win at Loftus Road. Harvey Vale struck early for the Hoops and Steve Cook restored the lead on 80 minutes after Wrexham had equalised at the start of the second half.
But Josh Windass and Ollie Rathbone netted twice in injury time to snatch a dramatic victory.
Rangers are now 12th on 40 points, four points behind their opponents, who occupy that all-important sixth play-off place.
Also in the mix, and three points better off, are Watford, who drew 1-1 with Portsmouth at Vicarage Road on Friday night. Teenager Mamadou Doumbia grabbed a 79th minute equaliser.
In League One, it continues to look bleak for AFC Wimbledon as they failed to beat a struggling Rotherham in Yorkshire. It needed a late goal from Marcus Browne to earn a 1-1 draw. They are 18th and just three points above the relegation zone, having only won once in 13 league games.
That solitary success came at Leyton Orient, who lost 2-1 at Bolton, where an injury-time penalty did for them. Theo Archibald scored soon after Thierry Gale had opened the scoring for the hosts at the start of the second half. The O's are on the same number of points as the Dons after just one win in six league games.
In League Two, mid-table Barnet overcame Oldham 3-2 at the Hive, despite having Nik Tavares sent off just past the hour. Newcomer Kabongo Tshimanga had a day to remember, scoring twice. Ryan Glover was also on target for the Bees
