Stephan on QPR stalemate - plus a roundup of London clubs on a day to remember for Charlton Athletic
QPR turned in a dominant display in their first home league game of the season in the Championship but had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Bolton Wanderers.
They won the shot count 18-2 with 10 on target compared to none for the Trotters. But they were unable to follow up last week's impressive win at Portsmouth with another victory.
Julien Stephan was in philosophical mood afterwards, however - and happy to move on after a decent performance.
"It's football. When you are so dominant like this, if you don't score then the minimum [you want] is 0-0 because sometimes you can do the same game and lose 1-0 at the last minute," said the Hoops boss. "It's happened a lot of times.
"I'm not sure many teams were so dominant like us today but you can be dominant and lose this kind of game. I think we did a great game, a great collective game and I want to see another one.
"We had the frustration with the result for sure, but I'm very satisfied with the way we played - the way the players want to be an exciting team on the pitch and I enjoy that.
"I'm really convinced that in the mid and long term, if we continue to play like this, and continue to be brave on the pitch, and continue to be dominant, we will have a lot of wins.
"It was good to keep the clean sheet with a strong defensive performance like at Portsmouth and against Millwall the week before - it'sa good sign as well. I think we are in a very good direction. We created some good chances."
Pride of place this weekend goes to Charlton Athletic for their superb 2-1 win at West Ham United.
The Hammers are among the favourites to win the Championship this season and bounce straight back up to the top flight but in front of a record second tier crowd of 62,264, the Addicks pulled off a famous shock win.
Skipper Lloyd Jones put them in front with an overhead kick after just seven minutes and Tyreece Campbell doubled the lead on 56 minutes after dispossessing Tino Mavropanos and curling home.
But they then needed some luck at the end to hold hold on. Joel Piroe scored from close range on 74 minutes and Taty Castellanos had the chance to rescue a point with a 93rd minute penalty, but missed his cue.
"We earned our luck. For a large majority of the game we were comfortable," said Charlton boss Nathan Jones. "It's a wonderful win."
Elsewhere Luca Kjerrumgaard's 14th minute goal was enough for a point for Watford in a 1-1 draw at Wrexham.
In League One, AFC Wimbledon had to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw with Reading, while Bromley, playing their first ever home match in the third tier, grabbed a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United thanks to a late equaliser from Victor Adeboyejo.
Leyton Orient, meanwhile, picked up and excellent 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic - their goals coming from Tony Springett (15 minutes) and Yusuf Akhamrich (58).
And there was also a fine away win for Barnet in League Two - making it two wins out of two - as they returned from Shrewsbury Town with a 3-1 triumph.
Jake Reeves (13 minutes) gave them an early lead which was cancelled before the break but late goals from Charlie Lakin (83) and Tom Knowles (90) completed a perfect away day for the Bees.
