Bournemouth (0) 1 Semenyo 75

Kevin Schade doubled his goals tally for the season with a treble that sent a struggling Bournemouth packing and further cemented Brentford's place among the comfortably well off in mid-table.

Schade quickly had the Bees in the driving seat against a Bournemouth side without a win since late October - a run of eight games.

Igor Thiago's simple pass forward left the German with only Bafode Diakite to worry about and after he had outmuscled the defender , he then clipped the ball past keeper Djorde Petrovic. It was his fourth goal of the campaign.

Not long after, Thiago had the same scenario but this time, the defender was able to force the Bees marksman just wide enough to ensure the final shot would not trouble the Cherries stopper.

Kristoffer Ajer also nearly made it 2-0, glancing a header just wide when a Vitaly Janelt free-kick from wide on the right was floated up to the six-yard box and the chances kept coming, with Matthias Jensen's cutback creating panic and Schade scuffing a shot at goal.

The need to cash in on their superiority was obvious and relief came just before the interval when Thiago scampered through onto a pass from Keane Lewis-Potter and when the striker's shot deflected over Diakite, Diakite's attempted clearance off the line cannoned off the Cherries keeper and into the net.

Andoni Iraola made a triple substitution at the interval. It made no difference. Schade soon added his second after turning in a cross from Yehor Rarmoliuk and capped a superb individual display by completing his treble in the sixth minute of injury time after Antoine Semenyo had pulled a goal back for the well-beaten visitors.

The margin of victory could and should have been greater, with Janelt having a shot tipped onto a post.

Bournemouth had never won in the Gtech and not beaten the Bees away for 20 years so perhaps the omens were always going to be pointing to a home win here - but Keith Andrews' men earned their win by looking sharper and more motivated from the off.

They moved up to eighth in the table with the win and have laid a very decent foundation for the second half of the season.
