Boss Thomas Frank believes Brentford are now 'on the right track'

Thomas Frank says Brentford are definitely starting to find their form, after a patchy start to the campaign.

They were ultimately left frustrated in Wednesday night’s 1-1 home draw with Bristol City. A late goal for the visitors denied the Bees what would have been a deserved victory.

But Andy Weimann’s header cancelled out a sumptuous opener from Josh Dasilva which for a long time looked like giving the Bees all three points.

“In general it was a very positive performance,” said the Brentford boss.

“We showed we are on the right track. We just need to continue and build an unbeaten run, with more wins than draws, hopefully,

“A lot of players on the scale to 10 were six, seven, and eight. Maybe we needed one or two more to be [a bit] higher.

“We beat Derby 3-0, then I know at Preston it was not the best, but overall, solid performances against Stoke and winning away to Barnsley and we should have won today.

"We should have closed this game down, because they were not a threat. We should have won 1-0 and made that statement.

“We are very close to being a top defensive side but still need a bit to improve. Overall, it was closer to what we want. I think you could see we moved the ball so well and so quickly.

“I think when we get that little bit of momentum in some situations, we will open up teams more.”

Frank admitted that the result was a disappointment but took pleasure in his side’s overall performance and in particular the contribution of goalscorer Dasilva and midfielder Christian Norgaard, who he felt had his best game so far.

“I think we looked extremely solid, defensively, giving nothing away throughout the game, except two situations,” the Dane said,

“I think today we were dynamic against a side set up to close us down, because they feared us, which is fair.

“We created good opportunities but also know [its’ hard] when you play against a back five and three midfielders who work extremely hard

“There’s a reason they’ve been so solid Bristol and why they’ve got so many points away from home.

“Then you need a little bit of magic and we got that from Josh Dasilva. Beautiful goal. We see that in training, day in, day out. That was fantastic to see.”
