Four on bounce in league for Emery's Gunners

A goal apiece from Arsenal’s ever-improving strike force of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured the Gunners’ fourth straight win in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

It could have been a different story but for a string of excellent saves from Petr Cech in the first half which showed the Czech keeper is not ready to relinquish his number one position to Berndt Leno just yet.

First he palmed a Richarlison effort over the bar before thwarting former Gunners star Theo Walcott and stopping a header from Michael Kane.

Arsenal took the lead shortly after the hour mark, and once they held the advantage, they were never going to let it go.

Lacazette took an Aaron Ramsey pass in his stride, shifted the ball onto his right foot and, from around 25 yards out to the left of the box curled a shot past England keeper Jordan Pickford and into the top right corner of the goal.

Just a couple of minutes later Aubameyang tapped in from close range to seal the points for the Gunners.

It may have been slightly harsh on the Toffeemen, but the truth of the matter is they do not possess one striker anywhere near s good as either of Arsenal’s hit men and that was the difference.

After the game Arsenal manager Unai Emery said: “We are happy because we wanted to win for our supporters, to continue improving, and the three points are very important. We didn't control the match like we wanted to in the first half, but our goalkeeper had a good performance to keep us in it.”

Everton have now not won away against the Gunners since 1996.

Arsenal are up into sixth position, level on 12 points with Spurs, and have the chance to leapfrog Watford, who currently occupy fourth place, when the Hornets visit the Emirates on Saturday.
