A first win at Newcastle since 1934 has given a huge boost to Brentford's growing ambition to qualify for Europe.

They moved up to seventh in the Premier League table after their brilliant 3-2 victory at St James' Park which was sealed with a late strike from Dango Ouattara.

Vitaly Janelt had a great game, clearing off the line before heading home an equaliser to cancel Sven Botman's opener at a corner.

Igor Thiago then put the Bees ahead from the spot after Jacob Murphy had handled a shot from Mathias Jensen and although Bruno Guimaraes made it 2-2 on 79 minutes with a spot kick for the home side, Keith Andrews' men had the last laugh.

Also enjoying a trip up north were West Ham, whose 2-0 win at Burnley keeps their hopes of beating the drop alive. It was a do or die game against the seemingly doomed hosts and first half goals from Crysencio Summerville and Taty Castellanos - his first for the club - secured a vital three points.

Summerville has now scored five games in a row for the Hammers, who entertain Man United on Tuesday night.

Not to be outdone when it comes to away days, Crystal Palace grabbed a precious 1-0 win in the M23 derby at Brighton today. Ismaila sarr scored just past the hour mark to help the ailing Eagles arrest a worrying slump towards the relegation zone.

It was their first win in 13 league and cup ties and first league win since the early December victory at Fulham.

Chelsea were also on song in the Midlands as a Cole Palmer treble put paid to rock bottom Wolves at Molineux. Two of his goals came from the spot and he completed his treble in 38 minutes as the Blues ran out 3-1 winners. It was a fourth league win in a row for new boss Liam Rosenior.

No such joy for Spurs, though, we were beaten 2-0 at a resurgent Man United, where Cristian Romero was sent off for the sixth time in his Tottenham career after just 29 minutes. Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes got the goals for United.

But maintaining the theme of excellent travels for London clubs, hats off again to Millwall, who came back from fellow promotion rivals Wrexham with a workmanlike 2-0 win.

The Lions, fifth in the Championship, led when Femi Azeez's cross was turned into his own net by Max Cleworth just before the hour mark and Josh Coburn settled it five minutes from time.

For Alex Neil's side, it was a 12th clean sheet of the season and has helped them open up a seven point cushion ahead of seventh-placed Preston.

Managerless Watford remain eighth in the table after losing 1-0 at Southampton. A goal midway through the second half from Cyle Larin was enough to leave the Hornets pointless on the south coast.

In League One, there was a much-needed change of fortune for AFC Wimbledon as they beat Reading 3-2 to ease mounting anxiety just above the relegation zone.

Marcus Browne was the hat-trick hero for the Dons. It gave Johnnie Jackson's men a first win at Plough Lane since September and fans witnessed the team's first goals on home soil since November.

They now move to six points above the drop zone after back to back wins.

Orient picked up a useful point in a 0-0 draw at high-riding Stockport but the O's are one of four clubs on 33 points - just one point above the relegation trapdoor. Worrying times, but boss Richie Wellens took heart from the performance saying: "I'm really encouraged by today."

A team that hardly needs extra encouragement is Bromley, whose stride across the plains of League Two shows no signs of slowing. Jude Arthurs hit a stoppage time winner at Fleetwood for the Ravens to complete a stirring comeback. They briefly trailed to a Mark Helm goal just past the hour but soon levelled through sub Nickie Kabamba.

That's now 10 wins in their unbeaten run of 12 games and they top the table by five points. Notts County (57) and Swindon (55) trail in their wake.

It was a great day on the road too for Barnet, who claimed a superb 3-1 win at fellow promotion hopefuls Walsall. Adam Senior and Idris Kanu scored either side of half time and although Daniel Kanu pulled one back for the Saddlers, Kabongo Tshimanga's goal ensured the points would be going south.

The Bees are 10th in the table, three points outside the play-offs.
