West Ham 1-1 Tottenham
Goals: Odobert 15' , Bowen 28'
West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur could not be separated on Sunday afternoon as both sides battled out a 1-1 draw at London Stadium.
On a dull day in east London characterized by either team's ill-fortunes and glum table standings, Wilson Odobert gave Ange Postecoglou's men the lead after Mathys Tel won the ball back from Maximilian Kilman before squaring for his unmarked countryman in an empty box.
Jarrod Bowen equalized after being slid in by Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the Hammers fan favourite nutmegging Guglielmo Vicario at the near-post
Richarlison could have restored the lead for the visitors but his effort on the turn flashed over.
And he didn't do much better when, after a good run in behind the West Ham defence, he tried to set up Odobert at the far-post with a pull-back instead of going for it himself.
Tottenham remain in 16th place on 38 points while West Ham are a place and a point behind their rivals in what has been a hugely disappointing season for both sides. Together they have a weaker points tally than champions Liverpool.
Yet while Tottenham can save their campaign by lifting the Europa League, there's nothing to salvage for the east Londoners.
Barring a couple of good results such as away wins at Newcastle and Arsenal nobody will want to remember a campaign blighted by dreadful displays, a dysfunctional squad, managerial changes and the Paquetà case which has hovered above the club like a dark, menacing cloud.
There's certainly no better timing to draw a line under the past and start again.
And that's only possible if some heads ruthlessly roll and a host of new faces come through the door.
