Frank praises Brentford for their mentality, while Moyes rues West Ham's dropped points

Thomas Frank hailed the resilience of his side as they withstood a second-half fightback from West Ham before sneaking a late win at the London Stadium.

His Bees team were outstanding in the opening quarter, fashioning four or five good chances and they deservedly led through Bryan Mbeumo's follow-up after a Sergi Canos strike had been parried.

The Hammers were full value for a Jarrod Bowen equaliser on 80 minutes but then Yoane Wissa came off the bench to score - as he did against Liverpool last week.

"I thought it was a game of two halves," said the Bees manager. "I thought that we were better in the first half and deserved to go into half time 1-0.

"In the second half West Ham showed how good they are and why it is so difficult playing here and we struggled massively.

"I thought we worked hard, top attitude, put bodies on the line and you need that when it is a scrappy game. But I want us to be better on the ball, to handle the second ball situations better in those half transitions.

"I think that resilience is bang on and that is the big mental part to stay in the game and keep fighting when everything is not working.

"If we do that every week, it will be easy! We defended well in the box. I don't think we played well in the second half, after the storm settled they scored the 1-1 goal, but I think that shows a lot about this group of players, even more impressive that we can go on to win."

A disappointed David Moyes described it as a lost opportunity for his team to keep the momentum going from last week's away wins at Man United (in the cup) and at Leeds where they were the ones with the late winner.

"We had to fight back last week," he said. "That's what football does to you.

"We had numerous chances to score, numerous misses, that's why we didn't win today.

"I thought there were 30 minutes in the second half where we played very well. In the 30 minutes we were all over them, we had clear opportunities

"It's a missed opportunity, let's hope we can take opportunities in the days to come."
