Xisco praises Watford's 'maturity' in win at Norwich

Watford boss Xisco Munoz praised his team’s ‘maturity’ as they ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at Carrow Road yesterday.

A second-half brace from Ismaila Sarr secured the win after Emmanuel Dennis had given the Hornets the lead early on.

And Munoz felt his team were in control of the game from the start.

He said: “We know that always we were in control. We had the ball and also a lot of chances to score.

“Sarr had a great chance against the goalkeeper in the first half and also in the second half we had chances.

“We had a mature performance but we need to continue because I know the level of the Premier League.”

The win was Watford’s first away from Vicarage Road this season and takes them on to six points following three straight league losses.

They now face Stoke City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday before returning to Premier League action against Newcastle at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

And Munoz said the win at Norwich was the perfect springboard from which to kick-start their season. He said: “We spoke about needing to be both solid in defence and more aggressive in offence.

“Today was a brilliant performance. The team had a good level. The team was very mature with and without the ball and we were in control of the game.

“Today we are happy but we must stay together and work very hard for the next games against Stoke City and also Newcastle.

“It was a very good performance but we need humility. It was a compact performance but before we spoke about the process and we need to keep going.”
