Karembeu: England star Harry Kane already knows his future

By Alessandro Schiavone
Christian Karembeu already regards Tottenham striker Harry Kane as one of England’s best-ever centre-forwards.
Having played with stellar frontmen like Raùl Gonzalez, Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet to name a few throughout his trophy-laden career, Euro 2000 champion Karembeu knows a world-class player when he sees one.
Kane has netted 166 goals in the Premier League and is on track to beat Alan Shearer’s record of 260.
Kane has outscored the rest of the Premier League since bursting onto the scene in 2014 and has scored at least 20 goals for five straight seasons.
Now the sporting director at Olympiacos, Karembeu, who spent one season at Middlesbrough in 2000, went as far as comparing the Three Lions skipper to a tornado.
The Frenchman said: “I don’t call him Harry Kane, for me he is a hurricane. On his day Kane is like a tornado who inspires fear in every defender.
“He is gifted technically and very agile. He has everything.
“Harry Kane is a great professional and you can tell by the way he plays that he is very intelligent.
“It’s not easy to be consistent and make your mark each year in a fantastic league like the Premier League. Harry is a great player, a great top scorer and one of the best strikers in the world.
“I think he finished three or four times as the Premier League’s top scorer. Harry Kane already has his place on the podium of England’s all-time best. And he will score even more and leave an indelible mark on people. When he hits top gear, he is up there with Shearer and the rest.”
Kane failed to score in the 1-0 win over Croatia as England made a dream start to the tournament, winning the opening game for the first time in their history after nine unsuccessful attempts.
Kane is pushing through a move away from Tottenham but serial winner Karembeu believes his uncertain club future will have no ramifications on his Euro 2020 form with England.
Karembeu added: “ Look, for me his future is not in not up in the air but already mapped out. And it will have no ramifications on his tournament . Harry knows his future already.”
