Arsenal 0 Chelsea 2

Guro Reiten and Ji scored sensational goals as Chelsea broke the back of plucky Arsenal, in their own back yard to reach yet another FA Cup final.

In a turgid first 45 minutes where neither side could fashion a goal chance worthy of the name, the tie was set up for whoever could produce the class and the clinical edge.

Chelsea who overtook long-term WSL leaders Arsenal at the top of the tree recently and are now one point in front, showed they had the edge when it mattered.

Norway winger Reiten, had up until the 50th minute of the encounter at Boreham Wood's ground being largely anonymous - her job principally was to nullify the right wing threat from the Gooners.

But when let loose her instinct to try a shot from range, or plunge a deep far post cross was just too tempting.

And so it proved as her lofted, deep par post cross actually turned out to be a subliminally impressive shot.

It arrowed high over Manuela Zinsberger outstretched grasp and nestled in the back of her net.

If that was to prove to Arsenal that they needed to take risks and try to prick the resolute Chelsea defence it failed.

Eleven minutes later and the game was over. Some less than convincing defending, created by the chaos of Sam Kerr's non-stop movement allowed South Korean Ji to latch on the ball, 25 yards out. She needed no encouragement to shoot and the ball zipped off her right boot and was still gathering speed as it smashed into the back of the Arsenal net.

The Blues knew the game was won, they just needed not to do anything silly - they didn't.

Arsenal's inability to alter their style of play, to take greater risk, played into Chelsea's tight, defence-first game plan, and once with the bit between their teeth, they failed to let go.

Chelsea will face another nemesis Manchester City in the final, at Wembley on Sunday, May 22
