Bundesliga legend Dariusz Wosz claimed that "nobody" had their money on Inter Milan following in Chelsea's Munich 2012 footsteps before the season began.
But ex-Arsenal flop Henrikh Mkhitaryan and West Ham one-timer Marko Arnautovic can now help Inter win their fourth Champions League at the venue where Chelsea enjoyed their finest hours in 2012 when they saw off hosts Bayern.
Yet history is against Inter as the southern German city has so far proven to be a profitable avenue for teams that had never got their hands on the coveted trophy beforehand.
Nottingham Forest in 1979, Marseille in 1993, Dortmund in 1997 and the Blues 15 years later all celebrated winning the Holy Grail in the famous Oktoberfest city as 'virgins'.
Wosz, who faced Chelsea with Hertha Berlin in the 1999/2000 Champions League edition, told Capital Football: "As a German I think Inter [knocking Bayern out] was undeserved.
"But we can't change the result. What Inter have already achieved is world-class… if it can get better than this depends on Saturday.
"The better team today will win.
"Look at Bielefeld they did well until the DFB Pokal where they had a stinker…likewise it all comes down to whether they hit form on Saturday.
"Let's be honest, nobody had their money on Inter and if they manage to win the Champions League…”
