Charlton Athletic (0) 0

Wrexham (1) 1 Rathbone 30

The Addicks' lack of fire power cost them dearly as they failed to make the most of plenty of possession and a host of chances.

The Hollywood celebrity outfit - as Wrexham have become - were diligent rather than dazzling, only occasionally showing why it is they have climbed into the play-off zone and are charging up the divisions.

Their winner on the half hour came against the run of play - a fine technical left-foot finish from just outside the box by Ollie Rathbone.

Before that, Nathan Jones' men passed up several decent chances to get their noses in front, with Tyreece Campbell supplying Luke Berry with an opening he spurned by taking too long to get his shot away.

A Harry Clarke raid deserved better than the smothered effort from Sonny Carey at the end of it - while Clarke somehow skewed a shot wide from close range with goal gaping just before the visitors took the lead.

Charlton fans enjoyed two great pieces of defending - Kayne Ramsay blocking Lewis O'Brien's route to goal, while Collins Sichenje - impressing on his home debut after coming on early to replace an injured Reece Burke - made an excellent last-ditch tackle to thwart the same player.

There was a late flurry from the hosts, but Wrexham were comfortable for the most part. That said, it needed a superb save from Arthur Okonkwo to deny Carey at the death.

The performance was decent but the result leaves the Addicks still looking over their shoulders. They still enjoy a seven-point buffer above the relegation zone but will want to make sure they steer clear of danger in the month ahead.

Addicks: (3-1-4-2) Mannion - Burke (Sichenje 13), Jones, Bell (Leaburn 74) - Coventry (Kelman 69) - Clarke, Carey, Berry (Rankin-Costello h/t), Ramsay (Gillesphey 84) - Dykes, Campbell

Red Dragons: (3-4-2-1) Okonkwo - Cleworth, Hyam, Doyle - Kabore (Longman 68), Dobson (Scarr 89), O'Brien, Thomason - Rathbone (Vyner 77), Broadhead (Windass 69) - Moore (Smith 89)

Attendance: 21,844
