Two-goal Nketiah proving his composure and quality, says happy Arteta after FA Cup win over Oxford
Mikel Arteta expressed his delight at the form Eddie Nketiah again showed - as the striker netted twice for the Gunners in what turned out to be a routine third round FA Cup win at League One Oxford.
The striker has had to bide his time for a chance to prove his worth and now seems to be seizing the moment in the absence of the injured Gabriel Jesus.
It is just as well, because the team, for all its considerable progress this season has few options with the Brazilian sidelined after the World Cup.
"He showed great composure. He's a great finisher, with the timing of his runs as well, " the Arsenal boss enthused.
"He showed great decision-making, waiting until the last moment against the goalkeeper.
"He showed his quality and his work-rate is getting better and better. I'm really happy with him.
"At the moment we have only one [striker] and to go many months before Gaby is back, it's not easy but we have to get the most out of the players that we have at the moment."
Arteta added: "Obviously he's been waiting for this moment and he's had to be patient. He's had the right mindset to prepare for this moment to perform the way he's been performing."
