Bodø/Glimt 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Goals: Solanke 63' , Porro 69'
Tottenham Hotspur are through to the Europa League Final After Defeating Bodø/Glimt 2-0 on the night and 5-1 on Aggregate.
It was a measured and controlled performance that will inspire belief that Spurs can finally get their hands on a first trophy since 2008 — and a first European trophy since 1984.
After a quiet first half, Spurs striker Dominic Solanke opened the scoring in the 63rd minute. A deep cross from Mathys Tel was met by Cristian Romero, who found the Englishman with a well-placed header.
Spurs doubled their lead with a delightful chipped goal from Pedro Porro, which caught Haikin off guard from a tight angle.
After the second goal, there was no doubt Spurs would be heading to Bilbao, where they will face Manchester United in the first all-English European final since Tottenham vs Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League.
Ange Postecoglou will be impressed by the maturity his side displayed throughout the 90 minutes.
This was a Tottenham team determined to avoid any slip-ups, fully aware of how important reaching the final was.
Bodø/Glimt had only failed to score at home in two of their previous 32 European fixtures before this evening.
A formidable partnership of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero was resolute in keeping the hosts out.
Romero put on a captain’s display — winning every second ball and demanding his teammates remain disciplined at the back.
Every block and tackle was met with a roar from the travelling 470 Tottenham fans, who made their presence known inside the Aspmyra Stadion.
Bodø were awarded a late penalty, which was quickly overturned by VAR after Pedro Porro was judged to have won the ball fairly.
Although Bodø/Glimt did not get the result they hoped for, the town of just 53,000 can be proud of their team’s remarkable European journey — one that will be remembered for a long time to come.
Tottenham will now face Manchester United for the fourth time this season, in what is set to be a season-defining clash for both clubs.
Spurs fans will carry confidence into the final, having won all previous meetings against United this season.
Finals always bring new challenges, but the Lilywhite side of North London will be hoping that this may just be their year.
