Former West Ham star Benrahma shows that he's still got it for OL

Metz 1-1 Lyon

Goals: Mikautadze (M), Lacazette(L), Benrahma(L)

Said Benrahma thumped a low finish in off the post to complete Olympique Lyon's stunning turnaround at FC Metz yesterday night in 2-1 win after ex-Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette had erased Georges Mikautadze's chipped opener.

The former Hammers winger was unanimously Lyon's standout man after coming on at half-time, proving a real handful for the mediocre Metz defenders.

Not only was this his first goal for the French giants but also his maiden of the season in his 25th appearance across two clubs. And if that doesn't give him the necessary confidence to revive his career following a testing first part of the season at London Stadium, nothing will.

Ligue 2-bound Metz proved a banana skin for the likes of Marseille and Lens this term but Lyon simply had too much firepower in store.

But it may all not have happened without Benrahma who was at the heart of Lyon's second-half dominance. His smart introduction injected pace, trickery and dribbles into proceedings that Metz just didn't have an answer for. And his tricks and flicks just frustrated an angry Saint Symphorien crowd.

Whatever West Ham's asking price to Lyon or other potential suitors to make his loan deal permanent in summer, just add a couple of millions to it if he continues like this.
