Bristol City (1) 1 Twine pen 27

Charlton maintained their run of frustrating home draws as they failed to build on an early lead at the Valley in a share of the spoils against fellow Robins from the West Country.

They had two good chances to win it late on but have now gone six without a win.

The Addicks started well enough and needed very little time to get their noses in front. Karlan Grant whipped a ball wide left to Tyreece Campbell and the in-form winger's chipped return into the middle was beautifully controlled and swept home by the striker for his second league goal of the season.

After back-to-back 0-0s at the Valley, it was a relief for Floyd Road fans to see the net ripple and it put a much needed spring in the step for Nathan Jones' men.

They went close to letting in an equaliser when first Yu Hirakawa escaped the last man before being clipped as he tried to round Arthur Okonkwo, then Dom Ballard - ex-Orient - miscued a header in front of goal.

But they gifted the visitors a way back when Conor Coventry tripped the menacing Ballard as he weaved into the box and Scott Twine rolled the ball confidently home from the spot.

Charlton's high press -which had got them on the front foot early on - was less evident now as City started to exert control. Twine won a free-kick in a dangerous spot 30 yards out that he took himself - forcing Okonkwo into a low dive to his right to keep it out.

Charlton enjoyed some good spells in the second half but did not create enough to stir the blood.

Their best chance came when keeper Sam Tickle spilled a low cross in from the right from Miles Leaburn but Campbell failed to capitalise - crashing a shot into the keeper and then firing the loose rebound over the bar.

But Tickle redeemed himself with a fine tip-over save to deny recently-arrived Harvey Knibbs - the sub hitting a fine free-kick from just outside the area that looked to have the right amount of power and direction to reach the top corner.

All square it ended then - in keeping with the previous two home games - and once again in seems a lack of potency up front is depriving Charlton of those extra points they seek to claw their way up to the top end of the Championship.
