Champions League qualifier third-round

CLUB BRUGES 3-2 RED BULL SALZBURG (4-2 on agg)

Goals: Rasmussen 18' (S), Baidoo 42' (S), Seys 61' (CB), Forbs 83' (CB), Vanaken 94' (CB)

Club Bruges came from behind to beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 and set up a showdown with  Mikey Moore's Rangers for a place in next season's Champions League.

The Austrians took the lead against the run of play after Rasmussen rose highest to nod Kjaergaard's delivery in off the post with the game 18 minutes old.

And minutes before half-time, Thomas Letsch's men extended their lead courtesy of Baidoo who volleyed home on the turn.

Shell-shocked but only one goal away from pulling level on aggregate having beaten the Austrians 1-0 on their patch, Bruges hung in there.

And the Belgians finally got a way back into the game.

Whether they had a few... redbulls at half-time or not is anyone's guess but they returned a different proposition in the box. Energetic, dynamic and zesrful.

If in the first-half their end product was somewhat comic here they made every chance count after Romeo's back-to-back missed chances early in the second period.

The excellent Sabbe's lay-off down the byline was met by Seys' clinical execution into the far-corner.

Bruges were reluctant to let this game go to extra-time, smelling blood as Salzburg tired fast.

Only the post stood between Aleksander Stankovic and his first goal for the Blauw en Zwart.

Yet it was only a matter of time before the roof came off the Jan Breydelstadion.

In the 83rd minute ex-Wolves winger Forbs intercepted a wayward pass in Salzburg's half, ran towards goal at full-speed and beat Schlager at his near-post.

Captain Vanaken then killed off game and tie with a low finish in the 94th minute.

Job done for keeper Simon Mignolet's Bruges who are now up against Tottenham loanee Mickey Moore and his Rangers side, looking look to join Union-Saint Gilloise in the Champions League having made life tough for Aston Villa, Juventus and Atalanta last term.

Rangers will host the first-leg next Tuesday before both sides meet again the following week on Wednesday.

And if Moore doesn't make his debut against Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, it's likely he will do so against Bruges.
