Bees boss Frank: That was our best away performance of the season

Thomas Frank reckons that his side’s second half performance was the best his charges have produced away from home this season.

It certainly was close as they overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat Spurs 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.

“I need to look back but what I remember now is that that was probably our best away half performance of the season,” he said.

“I think we were composed on the ball. I think we found much better positions to play around them and behind the switch.

“I think we won the ball higher and scored two fantastic goals to switch the game around.

“And then we change to the 3:5:2 formation because we know they will add pressure and put more offensive players on the pitch, and we dealt with that and we then scored the third goal after high pressure.

“So, yeah. It’s obviously been a difficult few days but to score three goals and to have a player scoring twice, I mean, that just sends a very positive message to the fans as well.”

Of the loss of Ivan Toney, who was banned for eight months following betting irregularities, Frank was unhappy but pragmatic.

He said: “We actually have good players in the squad that can score goals every single time.

“Bryan Mbeumo Ryan has grown more to be a key player for us.

“He’a worked so hard but maybe lacked enough goals.

“He’s worked very very hard on his finishing.

“He has got the experience now.”
