Brighton 3-2 Liverpool
FALMER- Arsenal may rue not adding to their armoury ot attacking options in January.
But they won't rue loading off ex-striker Danny Welbeck to Watford in 2019.
And yesterday was testament to that with Welbeck fluffing a hat-trick of chances in Brighton and Hove Albion's 3-2 win over champions Liverpool.
And like wo often Fabian Hurzeler's men had to rely on youth doing the job.
Yasin Ayari cancelled out Harvey Elliott's opener before Dominik Szobolszlai's shot-cross looped over Bart Verbruggen on the stroke of half-time.
Yet the giant-killing Seagulls turned it around in the second period.
Kaoru Mitoma was on hand to bury the follow-up after Welbeck weakly took aim at Alisson.
Jack Hinshelwood's 85-minute tap-in completed the turnaround as Welbeck's blushes were saved.
The misfiring Gunners one-timer made a schoolboy error by somewhat heading wide from Simon Adingra's cross on the half-hour mark.
But thanks God for the Conference League-chasing southerners his teammates did the job for him.
Now they have to beat Tottenham, bank on Chelsea winning the Conference League and the same Blues to finish outside the top-six if they are to play in Europe again next term.
Asked why Brighton have a knack of seeing off the league's elite, Ayori exclusively told Capital Football: "I think the defence part to be fair against the big teams they usually dominate the possession so you need to dig deep defensively.
"And always try to stay compact, not conceding and then obviously with the ball have courage to play through, show for the ball and make things happen
"This is why this season overall against the big teams we've done well."
Brighton have taken four points off Arsenal and also trashed Chelsea at home. Next up is Tottenham away on Sunday.
Ayori added: "Overall there have been good and not-so-good parts this season. But against the top teams especially we have been consistent. But we would like to achieve more things.
"Eight place is massive but we want to be higher, you know?
"We know we are a good team and we know we have good players.
"We have a young squad, we have a new manager in his first season... and despite this we're 8th and are doing good!
"Of course you know when Leicester won the Premier League nobody expected them.
"I would have wanted to play against Dejan and Lucas and win! I am sad that they are injured... but I still want to beat Tottenham."
