Chelsea through to last eight - and here we look at the players who made it happen

Chelsea have once again made it to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after seeing off champions-elect Liverpool – the Blues' first win against the Reds in three meetings this season. It was a night when some heroic individual displays kept alive Frank Lampard's hopes of landing a trophy in his first season in charge at the Bridge. Here we assess the contributions.

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 9

Inspired night for the recalled keeper. Save from Sadio Mane settled any early nerves and then made an excellent triple stop to thwart Mane, Divock Origi and Cutis Jones. Another, more routine save to stop Mane again showed he was determined to grab his chance.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6

Near post header at a corner flashed just past the far post in the first half. Solid work in defence to keep the Reds at arm's length. Arrival of Roberto Firmino off the bench came too late to trouble him.

Antonio Rudiger: 6

Was happy to let defensive partner Zouma do most of the heavy-lifting as most of the Liverpool attacks emerged from the right.

Kurt Zouma: 7

Good work closing down Mane in threatening positions for Liverpool and subduing the livewire Senegal striker was crucial to the cause.

Marcos Alonso: 6

Went close with a curling free-kick just clearing the bar. Always a willing auxiliary winger but the menace of Mane kept him honest in terms of defensive duties.

Pedro: 7

Got into dangerous position on the left a few times early in the tie, causing concern to the Reds. Had the chance to make it 3-0 with an unimpeded scamper from his own half but was denied by Adrian's outstretched leg.

Ross Barkley: 8

Capped a fine display for the Blues with a stunning run from half way and finish to make it 2-0 after 65 minutes. Had already been looking impressive before that with some astute passes and a piledriver to test Adrian in the Liverpool goal.

Mateo Kovacic: 6

Has been in a rich vein of form but did not feature much before taking a knock just before the break, with Mason Mount taking his place

Willian: 7

Second of two pops at Adrian in a minute opened the scoring after 13 minutes. The keeper made a fine save for the first one but spilled the easier second effort. Back to his energetic and dangerous best but injury forced him off on 50 minutes..

Billy Gilmour: 7

Not much time on the ball but beavered away in the holding midfield role and popped up to inconvenience opposition build-up play. Will have relished every one of the 90 minutes he played.

Olivier Giroud: 6

Seemed to enjoy being back on frontline duty and along with Pedro and Willian, his experience played a key part in the win. Some good flick-ons and hold up play. Only denied a goal by Adrian's fingertip save which deflected an effort onto the bar. Rousing reception when replaced by Reece James at the death.

Mason Mount: 6

Clipped the top of the cross bar with a free-kick that he himself won just outside the penalty area. Blazed another effort over. A confident cameo.

Jorginho: 6

Pressed into action at the start of the second half. Shored things up well and one clever pass over the top gave Mount a sight at goal.
