Luiz and Hazard are Spur-ed on to create Carabao Cup glory

David Luiz is looking forward to dueling once again with England striker Harry Kane, tonight in the Carabao Cup semi-final 1st leg at Wembley as the Blues face Spurs just weeks after a haunting 3-1 trashing at the hands of Kane and Co.

But the Brazilian is up for the task but not out for revenge. “I think it’s the best games to play in the world,” he said.

“Every single player wants to have this kind of opportunity, so we know it will be a tough game, against a fantastic team, with fantastic players and a fantastic coach.

“I think Harry is a fantastic striker, but they have more than just Harry. He’s doing amazing, not just one game, but I think for many games. Of course he is one of the best strikers in the world.

“And of course it is difficult to play against him.” Luiz concedes it will be tough to stop him. “I think the first thing is to try to understand how he is playing, how the team is playing.

“More than that, If he doesn’t have the opportunity to touch many balls, I think it will be more difficult for him.

“We did not play well there, that’s why we lost. We realise that and we improved so I think it will be a different game, and we have to be ready.

“We are not out for revenge. I think you have to realise if you want to arrive in some place in football, you have to try to improve in every game. It was a terrible match last time, but we want to win this time. Eden Hazard however views the match as a chance for revenge.”

He said: “My first thought was this is a chance to kind of get a bit of revenge because one month ago we lost 3-1. This game is always a bit special, especially when you face them in a semi-final. We are a bit lucky that we play away first and then we come back to Stamford Bridge.

“They are a very good at the moment, the other day they won 7-0. Okay, they lost against Wolves, but they have good confidence and have top players. It is always a good game against them, but we will see.

“We want to get a good result in the first game because we don’t want to be playing catch-up for the second leg.”

So will the Blues change their formation? “I don’t think so, said the Belgian midfielder.

“He (head coach Maurizio sarri) is not the kind of manager where if we lose a game, he changes something. We will go there with our ideas of how to play football, our football and then we just need to play better than we did in the first one.”
