Slow start frustration but quality Girond finish earns Gunners a draw at Southampton

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger blames his team’s inability to start the game with a high enough tempo as the reason for the draw away to Southampton today.

But it was their ability to finish the game brilliantly that earned them the 1-1 draw.

Substitute Oliver Girond glanced a sublime glancing header a minute from time conceded out Charlie Austin’s third minute goal.

Wenger said: “In the last two weeks unfortunately we are losing points after a bad start,.

"I felt the Manchester United game played a bit of a part in the head of our defenders.

"They were a bit apprehensive to start well again and that's why it is sometimes not good to talk about the problem because you create a bigger one."
