A wretched night for Spurs. Here we take a look at the players involved in FA Cup flop

Tottenham are out. Beaten on penalties after being held to 1-1 after extra-time by relegation-threatened Norwich. It was a night when there was not much of the 'To Dare is to Do' on view as the club slogan goes. This is our take on the 15 men who could not carry Spurs to the quarter-final tie they wanted.

Michel Vorm: 6

Smart save from Emi Buendia in 33 minutes as Norwich pressurized Tottenham after going a goal down. Generally alert and reliable in what was a first start this term for the Lilywhites outcast – until a howling spill to let Josip Drmic grab an equaliser. Saved Kenny McLean’s spot kick in the dramatic - and ultimate futile for Spurs - shoot out.

Serge Aurier: 6 Signalled his robust intent by clattering into Canaries’ playmaker Todd Cantwell early on. Really should have scored the winner when unmarked at close range with five minutes to go.

Davinson Sanchez: 6 A better showing from his hesitancy during Sunday’s home defeat to Wolves. Did his best to repel confident Norwich until their late goal.

Eric Dier: 6 Shoe horned again by manager Jose Mourinho into a central defensive role. Coped reasonably against Josip Drmic to atone for a disappointing afternoon against Wolves last weekend – at least until the latter stages of a tense contest.

Jan Vertonghen: 7 An enthusiastic combatant from the start, Spurs’ hugely popular defender seems to have recovered his mojo. A fantastic six yard header to put the Lilywhites ahead on 12 minutes. Made several important blocks with the Canaries desperate to make inroads.

Harry Winks: 6 Not his most effervescent self as he and his team mates visibly tired in the second half while trying, unsuccessfully, to protect the slender lead. No surprise to see him subbed late on.

Oliver Skipp: 6 The 19 year old made his first start for the north Londoners since December. Tried to keep the passing momentum going and distribution good in general considering a relative lack of game time. Final ball let him down occasionally.

Giovani Lo Celso: 7 Always on the offensive and involved in much of Spurs’ territorial control. The Argentine showed his versatility in terms of passing and work rate.

Steven Bergwijn: 5 A rather anonymous showing by the new Tottenham man. has already proved to be more capable of impacting a game – but it didn’t happen for the Dutchman on this occasion.

Lucas Moura: 7 A bright opening period from Mourinho’s makeshift forward, playing just behind Dele Alli. Always threatening Norwich with his pace and drive on the right side. Unlucky to be denied by Canaries’ keeper Tim Krul before the interval.

Dele Alli: 5 Slow to start and was a peripheral presence by his standards. Well policed for the most part by Norwich skipper Grant Hanley. Tottenham needed better from him in this cup clash.

Substitutes

Gedson: 5 Came on for Bergwijn in 53 minutes with Mourniho looking to refresh a team that had suddenly come under pressure. Denied by penalty saving specialist Krul to hand victory to the Canaries.

Erik Lamela:5 Replaced Moura in the 68th minute. Some nifty tricks in the latter stages in an attempt to prise Norwich open, but missed in the shoot out.

Tanguy Ndombele: 5 A late sub for Winks as Spurs required some injection of energy after the visitors had levelled.

Troy Parrott: 5 An extra time introduction at the expense of Alli – another chance for the hotly-tipped prodigy in the main attacking role. The 18 year old was, though, well looked after by Hanley and eventually had his penalty saved by Krul.
