Guro Reiten is rapidly becoming a firm favourite for the Chelsea faithful and she has a message for her team-mate Maria Thorisdottir- she does have a right leg.
The 25-year-old Norway international joined the Blues in the summer from Norwegian outfit LSK Kvinner and scored a brace as the west Londoners dispatched Bristol City 4-0 this afternoon at Stoke Gifford in the WSL1.
The silky smooth left-footed striker was delighted with her goals that keeps Chelsea on the coat-tails of Arsenal and Manchester City.
And Reiten has the north Londoners firmly in her sights now - the two meet next at Kingsmeadow.
But of her right leg - she said: “Maria (Thorisdottir) told Emma (Chelsea boss Emma Hayes) I didn’t have a right foot - so when I scored the first goal with it I said to Maria, ‘hey my right foot - it works’ although I do prefer my left foot.
“We have had a great week of training, and we have been doing a lot of finishing and it’s been good. So we took it out on the pitch and it worked at the the start.
"We have been working on the finishing phase this entire week in training. And we scored three goals in 17 minutes so, Emma has to be happy with that. We killed the game early.
Reiten is working closely with Fran Kirby and she’s delighted about that.
“Me and Fran are very alike,” she said. “The link up (play between us ) is going to get better and better and hopefully we are going to have a lot of fun.”
Reiten scored her first goal after three minutes and the game was over as a contest with 17 minutes at she and So Yun-Ji put the game beyond the home side. Sophie Ingle notched the late fourth goal.
“I want to score every chance I get,’ smiled Reiten.
“I heard the crowd shout out ‘Guro wants a hat-trick’ but I don’t think it matters who scores so long as we do. I was happy to score twice today, I could have scored another one. We had full control of the game.
“There are not going to be any easy games in this league, so we have to be ready every single time. We want to be at the top, and then we have to win every single week. We came here and did our job.
“We know what happened last season (not winning early on) we know, we know, we are not going to do the same mistakes again.
“Maybe I’ll score a hat trick in the next game, it’s Arsenal Isn't it?
“They are a very good team, and I am very excited to be playing them.
“But before that I have 10 days with the national team, and we want to qualify for the Euros in England. We just have to focus on that now, and when we come back, we won’t need any motivation to play Arsenal.”
