Chelsea boss Frank Lampard: We made four mistakes and conceded four goals

August 11, 2019

Frank Lampard is understandably annoyed by the 4-0 drubbing by Manchester United but feels there are players to come back and those that played did alright - just that four mistakes led to four goals.

He said: “Without a doubt we made four mistakes for the goals

“For 60 minutes we controlled (the game) - we also made poor decisions at the front end.

“We should have been in the lead - then we made those mistakes.

At 1-0 down we were the better team.

“They are a counter-attacking team, we stopped them doing that (for long periods), but we

can’t afford to make errors at this level.”

Those players coming back into contention for Wednesday’s super Cup game against Liverpool and Sundays’ league home match against leicester City include midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Lampard said: “N’golo Kante coming on got minutes, we are missing internationals and big players, but I don’t want to make excuses.

“We have to be grown up about it. We didn’t want to lose 4-0, but it’s three points.

We need to analyse the bad bits and correct them.”
