Chelsea boss Emma Hayes, sitting at home, putting her feet up on doctor’s orders watched her side become champions of England this evening as goals from Drew Spence and Jonna Andersson secured the win needed to take the title.

Hayes tweeted a simple message: “Get in. A pleasure to watch that from home. Champions of England, we know who we are. Love you girls x @ChelseaLFC”

Chasing Manchester City can only look upwards in awe at the consistency of Hayes’s side, who with one game to go, remain unbeaten in the WSL1.

Heavily pregnant Hayes missed the trip to the west of England but her assistant Paul  Green oversaw a near flawless performance.

On Sunday, the season’s  campaign comes to an end with a trip to Liverpool.

Chelsea have won the Double for the second time in three years after their FA Cup triumph earlier this  month at Wembley when they overcame Arsenal 2-1

It’s a marked contrasts to the men’s senior side who self-destructed this season to go from champions to chumpions  - to finish fifth in the Premier League.

There was never a chance this season the women would succumb in equal fashion with Hayes and Green managing the egos of her squad, that Antonio Conte could not match.
